Following an earlier thrend on nairaland that A report from an impeccable source who pleaded anonymity revealed that the leadership of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) are already converging in a yet to disclose venue in Kano State, where the union will eventually take the final decision to end the strike action that has paralysed academic activities in public universities.
This is after having concluded ASUU branches congress in various universities, where the majority of the branches have voted to call a quit to the lingering industrial action by ASUU.
The union is scheduled to hold National congress where final decision will be taken to end the strike.
The source revealed that the union will definitely call off the strike as majority of ASUU branches have voted in favour of the strike to be called off despite some branches who are opposed to the end of the strike.
He further stated that the strike is as good as being called off, as the national congress in Kano is just to formalise the process.
In further affirmation at Kano venue of ASUU congress, a former ASUU President, Mr. Festus Iyayi enroute to ASUU national congress in Kano was involved in a ghastly auto-accident and died instantly when Kogi State Governor’s convoy rammed into him and due to this incidence ASUU Meeting To Call Off Strike is Postponed To January 15 as reported from dele momodu twitter page
